Wow, I can’t believe that it has been over a year since I last updated my blogging site. The last blog I posted was about my late Grandfather whose Anniversary of his passing had recently come up on Dec 14, 2021. It has been sixteen years since he left us.
There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. I want my Grandfather back. I want them all here with me but I can’t have any of them back. All three of my Grandfathers Lawrence, Robert and Larry are now in Heaven with my Grandmother Betty, Aunt Pauline and everyone else who I love and miss.
But not only that another heartbreaking Anniversary has come up too on the same day. It has been nine years since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of twenty eight people, twenty of them were children and six adult staff. Including the shooter and his mother.
I was still in high school when this horrible event had taken place. No child or adult should be scared to go to school. And shouldn’t have to live with this kind of nightmare. Why guns exist I will never know. But the thing is, it’s not the guns that are the issue it’s the people who use them for bad.
I was heartbroken to hear of this event, it frightened me, I was upset, it made my blood boil. I wanted to cry but I couldn’t cry in front of my classmates or in front of my teacher. I remember I was in English or History class at the time when I heard the news. Well it was one of those classes with the same teacher who taught Driver’s Ed and the Ontario Literacy Course as well. I will never understand why things like this happen.
They are all missed dearly. And to this day they will always be remembered. Can tragedies like this be prevented? Why do staff and students have to die? Why can’t Mental Health be talked about instead of being pushed aside? Why do people have to die in order to do something or for people to finally listen? Was it really mental health or was it something deadlier than that?
The children’s names are: Ana Grace, Allison, Avielle, Benjamin, Charlotte, Chase, Catherine, Caroline, Daniel, Dylan, Emilie, Grace, Jack, James, Jesse, Josephine, Jessica, Madeleine, Noah and Olivia. The teachers names are: Ms. Davino, Ms. Hochsprung, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Rousseau, Ms. Soto and Ms. Sherlach.
Rest In Peace, you all will never be forgotten. Sandy Hook forever in my heart.
Lynn.
