This article is about Robin Williams. Even though I didn't know much about him, I felt as if a part of me had gone to heaven with him. I so was impacted and bothered by his death that I wanted to cry, but I couldn't because I stayed strong for everyone else.
I was an extra in one of his movies called Death to Smoochy. Even though you couldn't see me I was there. To this day I am forever grateful to have been a part of that movie, even if it was the smallest role in the movie. I was among loads of kids as well that were part of it.
During the movie when it was break time and when Mr. Danny Devito was talking to us fans, Robin was popping off jokes and being a smartass. He was up in the rafters, we didn't see him but we could hear him. He got told to stop a few times. He apologized. “Uh oh there's kids here,” He said. Then he had realized what he was doing and then he stopped.
I was once in his shoes, I know how deep depression hurts and how it affects everyday life. A few times, I myself wanted to commit suicide but couldn't because I knew I was leaving something special behind and it would cause a lot of grief. I also knew I’d have a good future ahead of me.
Anyway I just wanted to thank Robin for bringing laughter and smiles to all the families out there who were fans of his. He is very inspiring and I won’t give up on my dreams, including acting, even if it takes me a while or even years to get there.
His quotes are amazing too, they tell the truth and people should listen to that. It could help them, someone they love, and it couldsave a life. This one especially is my favorite "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." He is absolutely right about that, words and ideas can definitely change the world.
Jumanji was a favorite movie of mine and my siblings growing up. I have watched it a lot and can’t even remember how many times Mom and Dad had put it on. I think us kids drove them crazy with that movie. We used to fight over that movie all the time when we were younger.
Robin was definitely worth fighting over; to this day he is still worth fighting for. Robin had made a contract having 100 to 200 homeless people being put in his movies, and this was made by himself every time he made a movie. I had never known that at all. If a good friend of mine named Jody at Hamilton Sings hadn’t told me about it. I would have never have known.
Now I know what brought me closer to Robin. This is just really amazing, what other celebrity would do this?
I think he’s more an uncle than an actor to me because his movies brought me closer to him than ever before. Sometimes I don’t even see an actor, I see a man of many great talents. A man with a big heart, a gentleman that cares about not just himself and his family, but many others including people less fortunate, homeless, disabled and many more.
These are some of the reasons why I adore and love Robin Williams. What are your thoughts on Robin, as I’d love to hear them. Please message me at lynn.clara.watkins@hotmail.com, as I’d love to hear what you have to say about Robin.
