The Sound of My Heart

Across Balsam Avenue, the students roam Down on the grass, they’re talking and walking Let them still exist in their own worlds Girls running down the road being chased by the boys.

The students are getting louder in Parkview Screaming down the hallway of their High School Their love is still alive everyday all-day Where they’re teasing some of the staff members in the same hallway.

Oh the sound of my heart is beating very loud With the words “I miss you” coming from my heart No never will I run for I know my place is Parkview

Where the bus meets the school I’ll be watching.

Pictures and memories light up my world Light it up, light it up I can still hear your voice yelling down the hallway But I no longer hear the voice I used to hear no oh no.

Oh the sound of my heart is beating very loud With the words “I miss you” coming from my heart No never will I run for I know my place is Parkview Where the bus meets the school I’ll be watching I’ll be watching oh yeah.

Oh I’ve got Parkview in my veins Opening the door of our High School Parkview might have been another school to you I’m just pulling back the door handle with a smile on my face.

Oh the sound of my heart is beating very loud With the words “I miss you” coming from my heart No never will I run for I know my place is Parkview Where the bus meets the school I’ll be watching.

Oh the sound of my heart is beating very loud

With the words “I miss you” coming from my heart No never will I run for I know my place is Parkview Where the bus meets the school I’ll be watching.

Oh the sound of my heart is beating very loud With the words “I miss you” coming from my heart No never will I run for I know my place is Parkview Where the bus meets the school I’ll be watching.

I had rewritten a song by Sir. Roderick Stewart called Rhythm of my Heart and turned it into a parody like I did for fun with a few other songs as well as this one and wrote this version for my English teacher back in 2014.

I have loved Sir. Rod Stewart's music for years and Rhythm of my Heart is my absolute all-time number one favourite. This song helped me through high school and was the very first Sir. Rod Stewart song that I held close to my heart, fell in love with and took to school with me every day since New Year's Eve of 2009, and New Year’s Day of 2010. And remained with me to graduation and still to this day in my heart, head and soul. Thank you, Sir. Stewart for writing and performing beautiful music.

The school is no longer open and has been torn down. And I believe it is finally safe to say that this song deserves to be read. Of course, all rights go to the original artist.

But there are days I still think about Parkview. I do miss Parkview S.S. but I do not miss the bullying. I dedicate this song to the Parkview School and the community surrounding it. I miss you. Until we meet again, your Student in Spirit, Lynn.
